Investigation of the effects of chemical admixtures on the cement-admixture compatibility and mortar production

Abstract (EN)

In this study, compatibility between cement and superplasticizer chemical admixture were investigated. The effects of superplasticizer type and dosage on the concrete compressive strength, workability and micro-structural properties were examined. At constant water/cement ratio, workability of fresh cement mortars prepared with different superplasticizer ratio and without superplasticizer were tested. It has been observed that increase in rate of admixture improves workability. After 7 and 28 days of hydration, samples were subjected to compressive strength tests. Microstructural and morphological analysis of samples were performed by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FTIR), X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). With these analysis, the changes in the microstructure of concrete caused by admixture that used were examined. The most proper superplasticizer amount for 7 and 28 days of mortar samples prepared with 1% (g/g cement) of SA, SB and SC superplasticizer, 1,2% of SD superplasticizer (g/g cement), respectively.
