Abstract (EN)

This study has been conducted to identify if there is a relationship between personality traits and job satisfaction, and to define the direction and the level of this relationshipData of this research have been obtained by survey method. Questionnaires were completed by 388 managerial and contractual personnel working in different units at Inonu University. Personal information forms have been used for obtaining demographic details, five- factor personality scales used for measuring personality traits, and job satisfaction scale used for measuring job satisfaction levels. Data have been collected by means of the questionnaires based on these scales. Research data have been analysed with SPSS 17.0 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences for Windows 17. 0).In analysing collected data, firstly the descriptive frequency and percentage distribution of demographic variables relating to university personnel have been specified. Then Levene's test, one sample t-test, single direction variance analysis (ANOVA), Welch (Robust), Kruskal Wallis H, Post-Hoc Scheffé and Tamhane, Pearson Product Momentum Correlation analysis have been conducted to decide if the scores that personnel got from the sub-tests of personality scale and job satisfaction scale vary depending on demographic variables.The results of analysis has shown that in five-factor personality traits, the average scores vary depending on variables of sex, age, civil status, the number of children, employment of spouse, working status, total job experience, the number of days employee is late, unit he/she works, whereas in job satisfaction, they vary depending on variables of sex, age, civil status, employment of spouse, residential home, educational background, working status, monthly income, total job experience, type of administrative service and unit employee works.Pearson Correlation Analysis has carried out to identify if there is a significant relation between personality traits and job satisfaction, the sub-dimensions, of university personnel that compose the sample group of the research. As a result of this analysis, it has been concluded that it has a significant in positive direction, but weak relation between personality traits of extraversion (r=0.216; P<0.01), agreablesness (r=0.171; P<0.01), conscientiousness (r=0.142; P<0.01), neuroticism (r=0.149; P<0.01), openness to experience (r=0.160; P<0.01) and job satisfaction of employees.
