Obtaining significant economic benefits by processing data has made it an economic necessity to obtain, process and flow data in every market, especially in digital markets. Unlimited and unreasonable processing of personal data within this data set has created the need for the protection of personal data. With the regulations that meet this need some rights have been granted to the data subjects and some obligations have been imposed on the data controllers. The right to data portability which has been introduced for the first time by the European Union General Data Protection Regulation, gives individuals more control over their personal data. While it will affect the level of competition in the markets due to the economic interests of data controllers, it is accepted that the right to data portability will also affects the interests of individuals in terms of the protection of personal data. In this study, the question of what should be understood from the right to data portability and how the right will affect competition has been answered by considering the multifaceted relationship between the protection of personal data, the right to data portability and competition law.
