Abstract (EN)
Aim: Respiratory problems seen in CF and NCFB affect the posture, functional exercise capacity, muscle strenght and quality of life of individuals negatively. The aim of the study was to compare posture, functional exercise capacity, muscle strength and quality of life in healthy children with CF and NCFB diagnosed cases. Method: The study included 15 CF, 15 NCFB and 15 healthy subjects. Demographic and physical characteristics were recorded. Respiratory function test, chest circumference measurement, posture analysis, respiration and peripheral muscle strength measurements and six minute walk test (6 MWT) were performed. The Child Depression Inventory, Social Anxiety Scale for Children and Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory were applied. For 3D evaluation of posture, the PosturePrint system was used. Heart rate, blood pressure, SpO₂, and dyspnea and fatigue perception (MBS) were recorded before and after the 6 MWT. Results: Thoracic expansion was significantly lower in patients with CF and NCFB than in healthy group (p<0.05). Hand grip strength of CF was significantly lower than NCFB group (p <0.05). The severity of dyspnea perceived before and after 6 MWT was found to be high in CF and NCFB (p <0.05). In Posture analysis, postural impairment was higher in patients with CF than in healthy group (p <0.05). There was no significant difference in CDI and SASC results (p> 0.05). The quality of life of the CF group was significantly decreased compared to the other two groups (p <0.05). Conclusion: Posture, muscle strength and QoL were affected in the early stages of individuals in CF and bronchiectasis. The effects of posture exercises applied from early on in the pulmonary rehabilitation program of patients with CF and NPFB should be evaluated. Key Words: Cystic fibrosis, non cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis, posture, muscle strenght, quality of life.
