Hadithism of Ebü'ş-Şeyh el-İsfahânî in the context of Kitâbü'l-Azame and the place of his work in hadith literature

The 3rd and 4th Hijri centuries are the periods when Islamic literature was at its brightest. In these centuries, original works, especially in the field of hadith, were created. Hadith literature, which gave its best examples in the 3rd century Hijri, continued by increasing its diversity in the 4th century Hijri. The most important feature of this period is that the books were written using the imputation method. Important hadith scholars were educated in the 4th century Hijri. One of them is Abu's-Sheikh el-İsfahânî. Abu's-Sheikh, a versatile scholar, stands out with his knowledge of aqidah, tafsir, hadith, fiqh and history. It is important to recognize his works and understand his hadith tradition. This study focuses on Abu's-Sheikh's hadithism in the context of Kitabu'l-Azame. First, the period in which Abu's-Sheikh lived, his life, scientific and religious personalities were discussed. It is seen that Abu's-Sheikh was an expert and skilled scholar in many Islamic sciences, especially the science of hadith. In the second part of the study, Kitabu'l-Azame is introduced. By focusing on the identification of the work, its sources, impact, classification method and content, its place in Islamic literature is shown. In the last chapter, the place of Kitâbü'l-Azame in the science of hadith is researched. The attribution and text characteristics of the work, the types of narrations in it and their authenticity are emphasized. Abu's-Sheikh provides information about the majesty and power of Almighty Allah through the narrations he received. Kitabu'l-Azame is seen to be important in terms of reflecting the narration culture, intellectual structure and theological views of the period.
