Abstract (EN)
This study comprehensively examines the effects of mass media on the spread of consumer culture and hedonistic tendencies. Hedonism has historically emerged as a philosophy centered on individuals' search for pleasure and happiness. This study analyzes the origins and historical development of hedonism and how it spreads through media in modern societies. Especially it focuses on how modern mass media such as social media, television, advertisements and films encourage and spread hedonistic values. The study examines in detail how the media shapes individuals' consumption habits, lifestyles and values. In addition, the individual and societal effects of the spread of hedonism through media are also evaluated. While individuals' search for pleasure is directed through media content, the psychological and social consequences of this situation are discussed. The results of the study emphasize the importance of media literacy training and reveal that strategies should be developed to reduce the effects of hedonistic messages. As a result, this study contributes to our better understanding of the dynamics of modern societies by addressing how hedonism spreads through media and the societal and individual effects of this spread.
