Abstract (EN)

Turkey Socialist Workers' Party is a socialist party which was established on 16 June 1974. It mainly emphasized that the working class must own and lead the revolutionary struggle in a passionate way. In this regard, the Party has made its statements frequently through "Kitle'' and "Ilke" journals that were also published to support the same standpoint. "Kitle" was actually the political journal that has been published weekly by the Party itself as of 1974. This journal has been founded originally to protect the ideological, political and organizational independence of the working class, to strengthen the organizational structure, to reach the larger masses and last but not least to create a common union of struggle within the democratic forces. On the other hand, Ilke magazine, published its first issue in January 1974, is a monthly review, commentary and document magazine. It was founded with the purpose of solving the ideological issues against the scientific socialist political movement and spreading the various disciplines of scientific theory and the views on global revolutionary struggle pointed out by the working class parties all over the world across the Turkish working class in a competent stance based on theoretical and scientific knowledge. The Party has leveraged from both journals to express its views about many issues in the country. Especially in the first years of the Party's foundation, the Cyprus issue was one of the significant topics in the Turkish agenda and it has expressed its views about this issue in the conferences they attended and also through the newspapers and journals. This period was very hectic in terms of the internal political issues till the military intervention to override the tension in Cyprus. In this context Cyprus issue is evaluated both from the perspective of the Party and the journals of "Kitle" and "Ilke".
