Abstract (TR)
In this study, leadership styles of the headmasters who work in the secondary schools situated in Famagusta district of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in 2018-2019 academic year, that perceived by teachers and the relationship between leadership style and job satisfaction level declared by teachers were examined. Quantitative research methodology and general survey model were used in the study. In accordance with the aim of this study, 76 teachers who were chosen with the simple random sampling were reached out of 2.227 teachers who work in the secondary schools of TRNC that consists the universe of the study and from the sample of the study consisted 400 teachers who work in secondary schools situated in Famagusta (Gazimağusa Turk Maarif Collage, Famagusta Namık Kemal High School, Dr. Fazıl Küçük Industrial Vocational High School, Gazimağusa Vocational High School, Gazimağusa Commercial High School, Famagusta Çanakkale Secondary School, Famagusta Cambulat Özgürlük Secondary School, Cumhuriyet High School). Before distributing ‘Leadership Style Scale’ and ‘Professional Satisfaction Scale’ which are the data collection surveys, 76 teachers, participants of the research, informed about the aim of the study and the surveys collected after fielded by the teachers. The statistical process and analysis is performed after the data collection process completed. The analyses showed that the most adopted leadership style of the headmasters’ who employed in the secondary schools situated in the Famagusta district of TRNC is democratic leadership while the least adopted one is autocratic leadership perceived by the teachers. Study also revealed that job satisfaction level of the teachers work in the secondary schools situated in the Famagusta district of TRNC, is high. When the relationship between leadership styles perceived by teachers and job satisfaction levels declare by the teachers examined, statistical analysis (correlation analysis) between leadership style scale and job satisfaction scale was performed and it is concluded that there is a substantive positive relationship between democratic leadership style and transformational leadership style sub-dimensions which are in the leadership style behavior scale.
