Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this dissertation is to define the functions of adverbial and adjective structures in the Classical period Chagatay Turkish in syntax. In order to make this study understandable, the following literary works in poetical and prose in Classical Chagatay Turkish were subject to the study: Ġarā'ibü'ṣ-Ṣıġar, Bedāyi'u'l Vasaṭ, Nevādirü'ş Şebāb, Fevāyidü'l-Kiber, Hüseyin Baykara Divanı, Bayram Han Divanı, Şiban Han Dīvānı, Mecālisü'n Nefāyis, Nesāyimü'l-Maḥabbe Min Şemāyimi'l-Fütüvve, Babürname. The reason why both poetic and prose works were included in the study is that the success of Chagatay Turkish in literary language is seen not only in poetic works but also in prose works. This thesis consists of four chapters. In the first chapter, general information about Chagatay Turkish and literature, and the works examined in the second part are given. In the third chapter the structure of adverbs, in the four chapter the structure of adjectives are explained by exemplifying coupltes selected from the texts.
