Prayer in classical Turkish poetry

Prayer, regardless of the content, expresses the need and desire of the person due to the situation he is in; it is a communication tool between him and Allah, whom he believes will meet these wants and needs. The prayer expressed in this way finds a place for itself in a common imagination, no matter what religious belief and whoever it is. The reflection of prayer is not only limited to religious works, but also prominently seen in literary texts. Prayer in Divan poetry is the subject of this study. In this context, it has been tried to determine how prayer takes place in poems, which prayer patterns are preferred and what features these prayer patterns have. Thirty-five divans determined for the study were selected from different centuries. First of all, the divans of the well-known poets of the centuries (Ahmedî, Şeyhî, Zâtî, Fuzûlî, Bâkî, Nedîm, Nâbî, Nefî, Şeyh Galip etc.) were preferred. In order to keep the subject area wider, the divans of other poets of the centuries (Ahmed Pasha, Hayâlî Bey, Nâilî Kadîm, Beyânî, Nevîzâde Atâyî, Sümbülzâde Vehbî, Âsâf, Keçecizâde İzzet Molla etc.) were also included in the study. In addition, the divans of the sultan poets Avni, Muhibbi and Kadı Burhaneddin; In addition, the divans of Mihrî Hatun and Leylâ Hanım, who are female poets, were also examined. In the study, the document review method was used. The shaping of the study is based on the evaluation of all aspects of the prayer expressions in the divans examined with this method. This study on how prayers take place in classical poetry consists of an introduction and seven chapters. In the introduction, the views on prayer, the place of prayer in Islam and other monotheistic religions, and the relationship between prayer and culture were discussed. In the first part of the study, the handling of prayer in verse forms and verse types, in the second part how the names of Allah and the names of the Prophet are included in the prayers, in the third part, for whom the prayers are made, in the fourth part for what purposes and reasons, in the fifth part, in what ways the prayers are made, in the sixth part the times and places of prayer in the section; In the last part, the subject of tawassul in prayer was discussed.
