Abstract (EN)
This study examines the relationship between job satisfaction and occupational burnout among maritime pilots providing pilotage services in the challenging working conditions of Turkish territorial waters, which involve numerous stress factors. Job satisfaction refers to an individual's satisfaction and enjoyment level derived from their work. Although this concept is often perceived as an individual experience, it is recognized as a significant determinant of organizations and consequently, their performance. Burnout is considered a global issue, and work-related stress is seen as a significant challenge for the health of employees and the functioning of organizations worldwide. In this study, a correlational research model from quantitative research methods is used to identify, evaluate, and explain the relationship between these two conditions. To determine participants' demographic characteristics, a "Personal Information Form" was utilized. Additionally, the "Burnout Scale-Short Version" was employed to measure the level of burnout, and the "Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale-Short Version" was used to determine the degree of job satisfaction. SPSS software was used for analysis, including T- tests, Pearson Correlation Analysis, and One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). In the examination of the relationship between occupational burnout and job satisfaction among pilot captains, it was generally observed that pilot captains are satisfied with their jobs to a sufficient extent and rarely feel burned out. While the most significant factor affecting job satisfaction was found to be the salary component, occupational burnout appears to be most influenced by job satisfaction.
