Determination of the types of enterpreneurship and innovation's features in SMES: An application on The Erzurum province

In a globalizing and shrinking world, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, which are indispensable for countries, are extremely important both economically and socially. SMEs are important initiatives that are flexible for the economic development and sustainable growth of the countries, adapting to all conditions, returning quickly to the differences, the customer effectively, contributing to employment and improving the financial structure of the country. The main pillars of the business world, entrepreneurs who are seen as an element of dynamism, continue their development with the states exhibiting remedial attitudes with sociological and economic measures. These measures include; is the correction of legal infrastructure and financial infrastructure. Facilitation of support and access to loans, reduction of bureaucracy, provision of freedom of initiative, creation of market economy, continuity of initiatives and the progress of the economy will be ensured. Entrepreneur is aware of the importance of innovation in order to survive and to compete against its competitors, to increase its market share, to use its resources more effectively and efficiently, to reduce the costs of the enterprise, to increase and increase the quality of products and services, to gain flexibility in the formation of new products. The aim of this study is to identify the entrepreneurship type and innovation characteristics of SMEs in Erzurum. For this purpose, the suitability of the personalities of entrepreneurial individuals to entrepreneurship, the types of entrepreneurs, the entrepreneurial abilities and the general structure of entrepreneurship have been determined. In addition, the approach of the SMEs in the province of Erzurum to the innovation, its suitability, the awareness of the innovative activity has been tried to be determined. A questionnaire was applied to 404 SMEs. Analysis methods are frequency and Chi-Square. The most important result of the study, entrepreneurs who start business with their own capital, many of whom continue to do business with the big ones, avoiding taking risks, the current conditions of the market participants to protect their place, the general conditions of entrepreneurship has been found to be unable to carry. Another important result was that the participating enterprises could not make the necessary investment in innovation due to their limited resources.
