The Morphological chorological and ecological investigations on the ferns of kocaeli city in turkey

This study is based on morphological, chorological and ecological investigations offerns materials, collected from the province boundary of Kocaeli in 2006.It has been determined that 20 species spread in the investigated region. These taxa are,Equisetum palustre L., Equisetum arvense L., Adiantum capillus- veneris L., Polypodiumvulgare L., Polypodium interjectum Shivas, Pteridium aquilinum ( L.) Khun, Oreopterislimbosperma (All.) J. Holub, Asplenium trichomanes L. subsp. trichomanes, Aspleniumadiantum nigrum L., Asplenium onopteris L., Asplenium scolopendrium L. subsp.scolopendrium, Athyrium filix-femina (L.) Roth., Gymnocarpium dryopteris (L.) Newman,Polystichum aculeatum (L.) Roth., Polystichum braunii (Spenner) Fée, Polystichum setiferum (Forsk.) Woynar, Dryopteris caucasica (A.Br.) Fraser-Jenkins&Corley, Dryopteris filix-mas (L.)Schott, Dryopteris dilatata (Hoffm.) A.Gray, Blechnum spicant (L.) Roth..The description these taxa on the collected herbarium materials and the relevanttaxonomic literature, have been given in the morphological part of the study.In the ecological part of the study the ecological features of these species weredetermined which based on the soil and rock specimens, which are collected from investigatedregion and the observations have been done at their habitats.However areal maps, prepared according to spreading of fern species in the investigatedregion with photographs and tables, related to ecological studies are enclosed to this study.As a result of this study, according the squares used in the flora of Turkey, Polysticumbraunii, Oreopteris limbosperma and Gymnocarpium dryopteris are new records with in the A3squares and for Kocaeli were determined.Keywords: Chorology, Ecology, Ferns, Flora of Kocaeli, Flora of Turkey.
