Abstract (EN)
Clays, which are the main component of the ceramic material, have been used and developed for visual or functional purposes since the Neolithic age, have been developed, and their usage areas in the field of ceramics have been diversified. When the slip prepared with clay are examined in the historical process, it is understood that they are applied with different methods and techniques in almost every region of the world. Today, it is seen that slip glazes research continues to be developed with different techniques and application methods. The first examples of slip glazes prepared with clays that were easily available from local clay deposits, generally had low hardening temperature and contained a significant amount of iron oxide were historically seen in China and later in America. When slip glazes, most of which are composed of clays, are used, they add aesthetic value to ceramic surfaces, while at the same time provide advantages due to their economical and easy application. For this reason, it attracts the attention of many researchers and artists today. Within the scope of the thesis, the historical process of slip and slip glazes have been examined and various examples of slip glaze applications are given. By using four different types of clay with low hardening temperature in Kocaeli, slip glaze recipes were created with increasing amounts of fluxes and fired at 12000 C. The test results were reported and evaluated according to the surface appearance properties.
