Abstract (EN)

This prospective and descriptive study was completed with 122 patients in order to determine the problems experienced by patients after colonoscopy and the related factors. Data were collected at Ankara Bilkent City Hospital between January and June 2024 using the "Patient Information Form" and "patient file/process report in the hospital information system". Continuous data were shown as mean ± standard deviation, and categorical data were shown as frequency and percentage. Pearson Chi-Square, Fisher Exact Test and Fisher Freeman Halton test were used according to the expected value number in the comparisons of differences between categorical variables according to the groups. It was determined that the physical problems experienced by the patients after colonoscopy were primarily fatigue, bloating, weakness, abdominal pain and diarrhea. The problems experienced by the patients after colonoscopy were found to be related to "gender, smoking, presence of diagnosed additional chronic disease, additional irrigation fluid administration during colonoscopy, polypectomy during colonoscopy and biopsy during colonoscopy" (p<0.05). It is recommended that nursing education and monitoring by provided for the problems experienced by patients after colonoscopy.
