AzaBODIPY nanoparticles suitable for combined therapies

Abstract (EN)

Cancer is a serious health problem that increases mortality rates worldwide. Modern treatment approaches aim to effectively target and eliminate cancer cells. This study involves the combined application of photodynamic therapy (PDT), photothermal therapy (PTT), and sonodynamic therapy (SDT) tests on a material with chemiluminescent properties that show sensitivity to reactive oxygen species (ROS). First of all, compounds 4, 6, and 7 have been synthesized and characterized. Subsequently, the synthesis of AzaBODIPY 1 was carried out by subjecting 8 and 9 to a click reaction. The structure and properties of AzaBODIPY 1 have been analyzed in detail to reveal the absorption, pH sensitivity, and chemiluminescence properties. Comprehensive studies have been conducted to determine whether the AzaBODIPY 1 compound is suitable for producing ROT and therapeutic applications. In the final stage, nanoformulations of AzaBODIPY 1 and Pluronic F127 were studied for in vitro tests. Nanofomulations have been carried out to ensure better solubility and passive targeting of diseased tissues in biological systems. In vitro studies have shown that AzaBODIPY 1 is effective in PDT, PTT, SDT, and combined therapies towards cancerous cells. This study proves that versatile and effective combined treatment strategies for cancer can be developed with AzaBODIPY 1.
