Abstract (EN)
Tourism sector as well as the other industries is significantly affected by the globalization. Therefore, businesses in this sector are trying to improve the quality of service provided by increasing the job satisfaction of the employees. The population of the research comprises of the personnel working in 4 and 5 star accommodation facilities in Girne. In total, 450 employees were interviewed working in a total of 11 enterprises. However, some of the employees were on leave, some of them didn't have time to answer the questions due to hard work and some of them couldn't sufficiently answer the questions during these interviews . Thus, 321 of 450 questionnaires were fully answered and is taken into evaluation. The data obtained from the study were analyzed through SPSS 20.0 package program. In the analysis of data, various descriptive statistics such as frequency distributions, mean, variance distribution, standard deviation, as well as reliability analyzes were performed. In addition, Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis-H statistical tests were also applied. The Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale (MSQ, 1967), which is commonly used in our country, was used in the study. With the findings obtained, the internal, external and general factor perceptions of the job satisfaction of the employees have been examined whether there was any difference according to the variables such as nationality, gender, seniority, marital status, education level and tourism education. The most important points that stand out when these findings was examined might be: The external and general job satisfaction levels of the employees show a statistically significant difference according to the nationality variable. However, when the internal job satisfaction level was examined, there was no statistically significant difference according to the nationality. Therefore, Post Hoc Test was applied in order to determine which variables were causing the differences between the groups. When the test results was examined, T.C. and TRNC nationality participants showed a significant similarity in terms of external and general job satisfaction. Therefore, it can be said that these two nationalities do not show any difference in terms of perceiving the job conditions. In other words, it is possible to think that Turkish and Cypriot Turkish citizens are very similar to each other in cultural and mental terms. In fact, this may be considered as the most important finding obtained from the research. Because the similarity in job satisfaction perception for Cypriot Turkish employees and the Turkish employees may imply that Cypriot Turks could preserve their cultural values and traditional way of thinking although they have lived with the Greeks and the British on an island for a long time. Nevertheless, there was no other significant difference between internal, external and general job satisfaction levels of the employees and other demographic variables such as gender, marital status, seniority, educational status and tourism education.
