Abstract (EN)
Although hearing ability is the basis of many musical precession double bass teaching, it is not considered the only cause of intonation problems. For this, physical comfort, right hand, left hand, position transitions, string changes, instrument quality, working habits, the role of the educator and all other factors affecting practice which are more or less related to this problem need to be considered. The aim of this study is to find the reasons for the intonation problems encountered in double bass teaching, to emphasize the importance of this issue especially in the teaching of string instruments, and to reveal some solutions that can be applied to minimize and even eliminate this problem. A case studyof, qualitative research methods was used in the study. The data were collected through a structured interview with 10 university double bass educators and 5 university double bass students who could be reached and who voluntarily participated in the study in the fall semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. A purposeful sampling method was used. The data were analyzed and interpreted in accordance with qualitative research methods. As a result of the research, it was determined that intonation problems were caused by incorrect tuning, insufficient understanding of the instrument, physical limitations of the individual, technical deficiency, lack of musical hearing, lack of effort and care, hearing problems, left hand position insufficiency, and sharp or flat pitch. In conclusion, to solve intonation problems, arpeggio, scale, solfege, double voice, mode and etude studies, works with piano accompaniment, self-listening exercises with video and sound recording, listening to pieces played by different interpreters, position change exercises, listening and analyzing concertos or sonatas, synchronization of the left hand form to the instrument through exercises and paying attention to position transitions is recommended. Keywords: Double bass, pitch perception, education.
