Abstract (EN)

AIM Platelet concentrates have been used extensively recently in order to prevent delays in wound healing in individuals with diabetes. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of advenced platelet-rich fibrin (A-PRF) obtained from patients with controlled type 2 diabetes and uncontrolled type 2 diabetes on the proliferation of periodontal fibroblasts. MATERIAL AND METHODS To work; A total of 21 patients were included, including 7 patients with controlled type 2 diabetes (Group 1), 7 patients with uncontrolled type 2 diabetes (Group 2), and 7 healthy individuals (control group). A-PRF obtained from the patients were placed in the cavities created in primary periodontal fibroblastic cell culture in the laboratory environment. The closure rates of the created gaps were evaluated separately on the 5th day, 6th day and 7th day. All obtained data were analyzed statistically. RESULTS There was no statistically significant difference between the groups in the demographic data of the patients (except for the education level) (p>0.05). When clinical data are examined; It was observed that the HbA1c values of the individuals in Group 2 were statistically significantly higher than the HbA1c values of the individuals in Group 1 and the control group (p < 0.05). The contribution of A-PRF obtained from the patients to the closure levels of the cavities created in primary periodontal fibroblastic cell cultures in the laboratory environment was compared on the 5th, 6th and 7th days. Every 3 days; Periodontal fibroblastic proliferation (regeneration) rate was found to be statistically significantly lower in Group 2 compared to Group 1 and controls, and in both diabetes groups compared to controls (p < 0.05). DISCUSSION The findings of our study are promising because they reveal current treatment approaches for A-PRF, which will provide a different perspective on periodontal regeneration in diabetics, and also suggest that the regenerative efficiency of A-PRF may increase when diabetes is controlled.
