Abstract (EN)
In this master thesis, sediment movements of Konyaaltı Beach, one of the most important cultural, economical and environmental place of Turkey were investigated. The annual longshore sediment transportation rates were determined by calculations of the wave, sediment and bathymetry data of the mentioned coastal area with CERC (1984), Kamphuis (1991), Schoonees and Theron (1996) and Damgaard and Soulsby (1997) methods. These calculated net sediment transport amounts were compared with the net sediment transport amounts obtained from the TÜBİTAK-1001 project titled "Investigation of Sediment Movements in Coastal Areas, Konyaaltı and Lara Beaches Applications". When the sediment budgets obtained from the calculations and the sediment budgets obtained from GIS applications were evaluated together, it was concluded that coastal erosion was observed throughout Konyaaltı Coast.
