Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was aimed to evaluate, under light the clinical and radiographic findings, the treatment with curved plate of the distal epiphyseal and supracondylar fracture of femur in dog.As material, a totally of 10 dog different age, breed and sex diagnosed distal epiphyseal and supracondylar fracture of femur which brought to Adnan Menderes University, Veterinary Faculty, Department of Surgery Clinic were subjected. All dog were anesthetized with a dose of 0,045 mg/kg (SC) atropine sulfate (Atropin® %2 20 ml, Vetaş®), 1 mg /kg (IM) xylazine hydrochloride (Alfazyne® %2, 20 ml, Egevet) and 11 mg/kg (IM) ketamine hydrochloride (Alfamine® %10 10 ml, Egevet). Then general anesthesia was maintained with % 1 MAC Isoflurane inhalation (Isoflurane®-Usp, Adeka İlaç San Tic Turkey).Operation area was prepared according asepsis and antisepsis rules, routinely. Firstly, patella and lateral trochlea of femur was palpated. Following this, a curved incision was made from top of tuberositas tibia to patella and this incision was lengthened to the distal area, equally. Same manner, connection tissue fascia was dissected. Then fracture line was revealed. Curved plate was attached to the distal fragment by spongiose screws, the proximal fragment by locked cortical screws. All patients were examined as radiologically and clinically in 10, 20, 40, and 60th days, postoperatively. In postoperatively 10th days, in one case was designated severe lameness and others mild lameness in 20, 40, and 60th days, in three number case pain was continuously and others cases was firstly decrease then pain removed completely, following days.In radiological examination, according to the Salter-Harris classification, fracture lines were classified as type I in seven cases and type II in three cases. It was seen the callus formation and decrease of evidence of fracture line on obtained radiographs in 10th day, postoperatively. In postoperatively 20th day, the visibility of fracture line was decreased in eight dogs, in one was last (seven number case), in other one was clear. Callus was formed in all dogs, and expansive callus was formed in four dogs. In postoperatively 40th day, except three number dog, fracture line was closed, expansive callus formation was still formed in four dogs, in other dogs callus formation was reabsorbed. At finally in radiograph in postoperatively 60th day, ıt was seen that fracture line was obvious in one dog (number three) and exactly healed on other dogs.As a result, under lighting clinical and radiogically findings, in a mini-series, it was thought that curved plate can evaluate as a choice in treatment of supracondylar and distal epiphyseal fracture of femur in dogs.
