Abstract (EN)

This study was performed on 20 dogs with long bone fractures in the thoracic or pelvic limbs (radius and ulna, femur, tibia) at different breed, gender and weight whom was brought to the Surgery Clinic of Adnan Menderes University, Faculty Veterinary Medicine. Dynamic compression plate and limited contact dynamic compression plate was used for the treatment of fractures in this study. These two treatment groups were compared according to their clinical and radiographic evaluation and results. The study material occurred from 11 tibia fractures, 6 femur fractures and 5 antebrachium fractures. Totally, 11 DCP and 11 LC-DCP was used for the treatment. The patients were re-evaluated clinically and radiographically in 1., 2., 4., 6., 8., 10., 12. and 16. weeks. Consequently, fracture healing has taken place earlier in the LC-DCP group. But when evaluated the functional healing regardless of time, there was no significant difference between DCP and LC-DCP.
