Analysis of Koray Avcı Çakman's story and novels in terms of sensitivity education

Child and childhood values are among the factors that determine the future, perspective and development levels of societies. Societies that want to absorb national and universal awareness and progress in every aspect attach importance to children and children's education. Sensitivity education, which is thought to be effective in the child's view of life, in the process of individualization and socialization, has come to the fore in education and training studies in recent years. It is thought that the most active elements that serve as a source for sensitivity education to take place in the world of education and children are works of children's literature. Quality children's literature works can contribute to the child's acquisition of individual and social sensibilities by addressing her dream world. The reader, who acquires sensitivity about living spaces, can socialize with a healthy cognitive and affective process. Children's literature works can set an example for children in many fields with the heroes, messages and stimuli they contain. In this respect, the contribution of the books of the author Koray Avcı Çakman, who appeals to many age groups and creates works on current issues, to sensitivity education has been investigated. In this direction, 21 stories and novels by Koray Avcı Çakman, between the ages of 8 and 13, were examined. Basic qualitative research method was used in the research. A list of 34 sensitivity categories determined by Aslan (2013; 2016), Karakuş Tayşi (2019), Evsen (2019) and Etoğlu Kibris (2019) and developed by the researcher was used. The data collected through document review were analyzed descriptively. As a result of the research, it has been concluded that the analyzed works of Koray Avcı Çakman are rich in terms of "Sensitivity to nature", "Sensitivity to world history and cultural heritage" and "Sensitivity to Animals". In the works, it is seen that the contents of all sensitivities take place at different frequencies. Considering the age level of the books and the number of pages, it is thought that the analyzed works of Koray Avcı Çakman will contribute to the development of sensitivity education of children.
