A study on Behçet Mahir Narration of Köroğlu Epic

Behçet Mahir's narration of Köroğlu epic is a collected work which has been obtained after much effort by Mehmet Kaplan, Mehmet Akalın and Muhan Bali. Anatolian field has an important position in Köroğlu narrations in terms of the volume and content that contains but it has not been investigated scientifically in detail. The aim of this study is to fill the relevant deficiency to some extent. The research part of this study consists of two parts. The first of these has been for the aspects related to Behçet Mahir's narration and episodes and motives of the text has been determined in the second part. International catalog prepared by Stith Thompson has been used for motives. According to the findings obtained in the study; the text is mainly prose for the most part and the verse part is technically weak. In spite of this, it is quite rich in terms of digressions. The motives has been intertwined with plot and they repeats all the time. It has been determined that Behçet Mahir's Köroğlu is a quite clever, crafty and trickster man. When we pay attention his discourses and behaviors, especially after met Ayvaz, he sides with bravery and glory all the time. His only assistant is his horse in his adventures. It is an extraordinary animal and Köroğlu becomes common and loses some features without his horse, Kırat.
