The validity and reliability of cardiac life quality scale (heartqol) and cardiac health profile scale in patients with coronary artery disease

Objective: To determine the validity and reliability of Cardiac Life Quality Scale (HeartQoL) and Cardiac Health Profile Scale in patients with coronary artery disease. Method: This methodological study was conducted between January 21 and April 24, 2017 with 180 patients with coronary artery disease at the Department of Cardiology, Akdeniz University Hospital. "Personal Information Form", " Cardiac Life Quality Scale (HeartQoL)", "Cardiac Health Profile Scale" and "MacNew Heart Disease Health- Related Quality of Life Questionnaire" were used as data collection tools. Results: Validity of the HeartQoL and Cardiac Health Profile was determined by scope validity, validity according to a reference, structure validity methods. It was determined that the HeartQoL consisted of two subscales in which the Cardiac Health Profile consisted of four subscales as a result of validity analysis. There was no substance removed from the original scale. In evaluating the reliability analysis, internal consistency and assessment of substance analyzes was used. The overall Cronbach alpha coefficient of the HeartQoL was 0.88, and the Cronbach alpha values of the subscales ranged from 0.74 to 0.87. The overall Cronbach alpha coefficient of the Cardiac Health Profile was 0.85, and the Cronbach alpha values of the subscales ranged from 0.62 to 0.76. When substance analyzes were examined, it was found that the mean of the substances were close to each other, when the average of the upper and lower groups were examined, the discriminatory properties of the substances were high and both scales were found to be reliable in assessing the quality of life of patients with coronary artery disease. Conclusion: It was suggested that the Turkish version of the HeartQoL and Cardiac Health Profile was a valid and reliable tool to measure the quality of life of patients with coronary artery disease and was recommended to be used both scales in evaluating the quality of life patients with coronary artery disease .
