Özet (EN)
Many preoperative and perioperative methods of myocardial protection in open heart surgery have been published in literatures. Statins (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors) have lipid lowering action and for this reason these group have cardiac protective action. The preoperative medical treatment has an effect on the postoperative prognosis and complications in open cardiac surgery patients. We studied the relation between serum LDL levels and anticardiolipin antibody in cardiac surgery patients. Our research was a double blind prospective study performed in Gazi University Medical School Hospital-Cardiovascular surgery department. 30 preoperative cardiac surgery patints were divided into 2 groups, group A consisted of patients had used statin for at least 1 week before the surgery, and group B consisted of patients hadn't used statin preoperatively.Anticardiolipin antibody, which was used as a mirror of operative oxidative damage, found to be lower in postoperative patients of open cardiac surgery. This result support the use of preoperative statins in preoperative period for attenuating the operative oxidative damage.
