History cirruculum and textbooks in Kyrgyzstan

Textbooks have a certain deterministic role, on the educational envirommets and procedures somehow with the same effect in every country, no matter the economical, cultural and political levels of the citizens. The aim of this study is to reveal the physical, educational, teaching, learning, visual and linguistic problems of the history textbook of 1996 historical curriculum in Kyrgyzstan. The contents of Kyrgyzstani history textbooks of tenth and eleventh class levels are translated into Turkish language in this study. Thus, those textbooks are evaluated by a certain criteria. In the first part of the study, the educational system and historical curriculum of Kyrgyzstan Republic was investigated by the historical method. The educational system and historical curriculum of USSR periods along with today's are also investigated. The scape of the study was chosen in the textbook of Kyrgyzstan history for tenth and eleventh class levels which are similar to each other. As a result of the study, it was shown that the history textbooks which were used in Kyrgyzstan in tenth and eleventh class levels were not satisfactory as far as phisical, educational, teaching, learning and evaluating processes are concerned.
