Abstract (EN)
Cryogenic transport and storage systems are special structures designed to store and transport gases such as liquefied nitrogen (LIN), oxygen (LOX), and argon (LAR) in extremely cold conditions at temperatures of -196 °C and lower. These systems generally operate under high pressure and are also insulated with vacuum and super insulation. The design and production of cryogenic transport and storage systems are carried out in accordance with international standards and regulations. Pressure, volume, material, equipment and safety features of the cryogenic structure may vary in different components. Material and design development processes are used to increase the performance and durability of the system. In this study, the effects of the number and structure of fins on the deformation mechanisms of aluminum pipes exposed to pressure in a cryogenic environment were examined by experimental stress analysis methods using strain gauges, and it was aimed at finding the optimum number of fins and fin shape. For this purpose, the effects of different temperature conditions and pressure changes on the axial and tangential stresses on the pipe, as well as the changes in damage formation mechanisms, were examined on pipes manufactured according to different types and numbers of fins, using aluminum pipes without fins as a reference. In the experimental setup created in this direction, the stress values at certain points of the pipe were measured regularly by increasing the pressure instantly, gradually and continuously. The stress and deformation occurred on the pipe and fins were examined through the process. After analyzing the data obtained for different fin profiles, the data were evaluated comparatively. Important information was obtained in terms of determining the usage conditions and performance of aluminum materials in cryogenic conditions.
