Abstract (TR)

The purpose of this study, is to investigate the effects and comparison between PNF and pilates exercises according to pain, body image, fear and avoidance behaviours, endurace, core stability, disability and balance functions on patients who have chronic low back pain. İn this study, ages between 30-65, totally 60 patients who had chronic low back pain were included, due to the ‘Visiual Analogue Scale’ according to the pain intensity 3 and above (≥3). Using randomised techniques and also the ‘Random Numbers Table’, patients were divided into groups as PNF exercise group (n=30) and Pilates exercise group (n=30). PNF exercise were applied to the PNF exercise group, 5 sessions a week, 20 sessions a month for only 30 minuets. Also Pilates exercises were applied to the Pilates exercise group, 5 sessions a week, 20 sessions a month for only 30 minuets. Sociodemographic İnformation Form, Body Perception Scale, Fear Avoidance Beliefs Survey, Unilateral Bridge Endurance Test, Trunk Stabilisation Test, Oswestry Disability Index, Fullerton Advanced Balance Scales were used on patients who accepted to contribute to this study before and after treatment. At the end of the study, patients -after treatment in the Pilates Exercise Group were analyzed having a decrease in the pain and fear-avoidance behaviours and an increase on the body image, core stability, disability and balance functions. Also patients -after treatment in the PNF Exercise Group were analyzed having a decrease in the pain and fear-avoidance behaviours and an increase on the body image, core stability, disability and balance functions. According to these results using the ‘Trunk Stabilisation Test’-(Right leg) and the body image tests, no significant increase was found. Patients of PNF and Pilates exercise groups treatment activities were being compared and only one parameter was found different between two groups. As a result, we have seen that pilates exercises applied on patients who have chronic low back pain, have increased the effects of core stabilisation (Trunk Stabilisation Test-Right leg) over the body.
