Evaluation of the Treatment Response in Patients Followed-up with the Diagnosisi of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia

Introduction and Aim: In the light of the substantial and favourable developments in the cytogenetics and molecular biology of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) within the past two decades the approach to the diagnosis and management of the disease has improved significantly. The management of CML patients in our center has taken shape parallel to these developments. Our aim in this current study was to evaluate the treatment outcomes of our patients in this new era. Material and Methods: Data from the demographics, diagnostics, the type of treatment given, major molecular response time, additional clonal chromosomal anomalies, genetic mutations and drug side effects that affected the course of treatment of 200 CML patients who reported to the out-patient department for regular visits and new diagnosis between January 02, 2018 and December 31, 2018 were collected from the patients' charts retrospectively. Findings: The 200 patients had been on regular visits for durations varying between 3 months and 22 years. Sustained remission was achieved in 97.0% in a maximum of 6 treatment steps per patient.
