Abstract (EN)

Objective: Organic solvents are liquids that are widely used in our daily life and industry. Thinner is used for these drugs. The aim of our study is to investigate the effects of melatonin and vitamin C on the damage caused by chronic inhalation of cellulosic thinner in rat bulb olfactorius. Method: In our study, 90 male young Wistar rats weighing 400-450 gr were used. The rats were divided into 9 groups. Rats were exposed to thinner inhalation for 1 hour, twice daily for 6 weeks. Cellulosic thinner was used in the study. The concentrations of the solvents in the thinner composition were measured with a Drager gas detector. After thinner inhalation, melatoninin and vitamin C inhibitor and therapeutic effect will be investigated against damage to bulbus olfactorius. Results: At the end of the experiment; Feathers in the feathers, excessive lie, frequent winking was observed. Histologic and ultrastructural examination; Thinner and other groups of bulbus olfactorius layers have changed. In biochemical analysis; GSH-Px, MDA, Catalase and SOD values differed between groups. Group 2 has higher labyrinth values than groups 1 and 5. Conclusion: After thinner inhalation, the rat bulb olfactorius was damaged and biochemical, ultrastructural and histological levels were determined to prevent melatonin and vitamin C administration against this injury. Key words: Cellulosic thinner, vitamin C, melatonin, olfactory bulb
