This research was conducted in order to determine the adaptation of people with Type 2 diabetes living in rural areas to treatment and the factors affecting compliance. January May 2022 The research was conducted with 196 individuals with Type 2 diabetes living in Göynük district of Bolu. The study was carried out between January and May 2022. The aim of this study was to Decipher the clinical characteristics of the patients. The data were collected using the "Personal Information Form", the "Disease Acceptance Scale", the "Patient Compliance Scale in the Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus" and the "Multidimensional Diabetes Scale". The average age of the participants was 63.15±10.30 years, 52.6% were male, 88.8% were married, 76% used oral antidiabetics, 74% lived in a village, 66.8% lived only with their spouse, 66.3% had primary school education level. Compliance scores of the participants were significantly higher in the 65-84 age group (76.58±8.46), married (75.72±9.49), district residents (78.00±6.64), primary school education level (76.50±9.84), those living with family (77.06±8.97), diabetes complications (81.00±10.57) (p<0.05). It was determined that the participants' compliance with treatment was moderate; as the self-efficacy perception, severity perception, obstacle perception, support perception and unsupportive behaviors increased, the increase in compliance with treatment was determined. It is recommended to plan appropriate nursing initiatives, health services and practical compliance trainings to increase compliance with treatment in people diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.
