Investigation of the effect of using the Quantum learning model on students' level of English reading understanding, learner autonomy and creative reading skills

This research examined the effects of English teaching practices based on the quantum learning model on the English reading comprehension levels of secondary school 7th grade students, their reading comprehension autonomy behaviors and the development of creative reading skills It was carried out by adopting a mixed research method that combines quantitative and qualitative research methods. Experimental design with pretest-posttest control group was used in the quantitative dimension of the study. The participants of the research are 51 students studying in the 7th grade. In the study, quantitative data were collected from English reading comprehension achievement test, English reading comprehension autonomy scale and creative reading skill self-assessment scale. The qualitative data were collected from student diaries, semi-structured interviews with students and researcher diary. At the end of the research; It was concluded that the learning activities prepared based on the quantum learning model created a significant difference in the English reading comprehension achievement levels, reading comprehension autonomy perception levels and creative reading skills of the students in the experimental group. Students in the experimental group stated that activities designed based on the Quantum learning model increased their reading comprehension autonomy behaviors, English reading comprehension and creative reading skills. They stated that lessons are more fun, contribute to the development of positive attitudes towards English, learning is more permanent, and there is an increase in attention and focus on the lesson.
