Traces of folk narrative in Ottoman detective novels on the axis of cultural adaptation

The thousands of years of historical adventure of Turkish communities, starting from Central Asia and extending to Anatolia, the Balkans and Central Europe, contains a rich cultural form. During this long period, many civilizations and cultures were encountered and contacted, and closeness was established. From the beginning of Turkish history to the present day, Turkish communities have been in contact with steppe culture, Islamic culture and modern western culture. urkish communities, which developed by structuring the values they adopted from the new cultures they came into contact with on their own cultural values, have created a colorful, strong, dynamic and integrated cultural form. Turks, who can easily adapt to the changing and developing world with their cultural structure, have been able to continue their existence by renewing themselves without changing. The last culture that Turkish communities interacted with, which made the concepts of cultural adaptation such as consensus, harmony and adaptation a part of their culture, was the western culture woven with the codes of modern life. After some political and administrative setbacks, it was deemed necessary for modern western culture, which was contacted by the choice of the political authority, to find ground among the people. Literature has been considered the most useful element in reaching large masses of people. In a short time, copyrighted works began to be produced in the novel genre, which is one of these genres, and in its subgenres. Detective novels, one of these subgenres, contain many elements of modern life due to their structure. The formation of the detective novel in the Ottoman Empire took place on the axis of cultural adaptation on the basis of folk narratives woven with core cultural values, within the scope of introducing new cultural values to the public.
