Abstract (EN)

History is the sum of cultural encounters. The emergence of all historical and social phenomena is based on cultural encounters that bring different values, understandings and acceptances into a dialectical relationship as a result of the historical experiences of societies. The minority-majority relationship, which brings together different cultural values, is an important aspect of the cultural encounter that reveals social facts. In the study, the historical and cultural reasons for the uncanny position of the Turkish-Protestant minority in the Turkish-Islamic society and the effect of cultural perceptions on the uncanny of Turkish Christians on media representations are discussed. The minority-majority relationship, which brings different cultural values together, is an important aspect of the cultural encounter that reveals social facts. In the study, the historical and cultural reasons for the uncanny position of the Turkish-Protestant minority in the Turkish-Islamic society were analyzed and the effect of the cultural perception of the uncanny position of Turkish Christians on the media discourse was discussed. In order to ensure the consistent inclusion of a psychoanalytic concept such as the uncanny in cultural analysis, all elements of the psychoanalysis concept set are abstracted from human content, taking into account their role in the dialectical development of consciousness. Thus, the Psychodialectical Cultural Reason Theory has been put forward, in which the concepts that have become formal patterns are made suitable for analyzing collective consciousness structures without disturbing the differential correspondence of their analytical positioning in the meaning pattern of psychoanalysis. Psychodialectical Cultural Reason Theory, which is a systematic effort to associate psychoanalysis with social processes, is actually the realization of the project of using the concepts and processes defined by psychoanalysis in cultural analysis, which Freud suggested especially in his recent studies. After Freud, who positioned psychoanalysis in relation to other disciplines, the discipline was positioned in natural sciences instead of social sciences and confined to clinical practice by medic-origin psychoanalysts under the influence of positivism, which was the dominant paradigm in the relevant period. Thus, the process of psychoanalysis becoming a paradigm for social sciences was prevented. In our study, an approach has been put forward that can be used in the analysis of the collective unconscious dynamics of cultures that are considered as collective subjects and social problems that will be perceived as social symptoms, by abstracting psychoanalysis concepts and processes from human content. Thus, psychoanalysis is reconstructed as a social theory. With the conceptual tools of this theory, the phenomenon of the uncanny positioning of the Turkish-Protestant minority has been analyzed by considering the historical structuring of the cultural self-perception, and the emergence of the uncanny positioning in the news discourse, which is one of the tools of collective externalization, has been investigated and the data of the psychodialectical analysis have been verified. In this way, an analysis has been carried out on the way in which the collective unconscious dynamics inherent in the culture affect the news discourse and representation practices. Since the developed theory systematically introduces the concept of the unconscious to social sciences, it is expected to contribute to various disciplines, especially intercultural communication and social change studies.
