Abstract (EN)

In this article we compared the German writer Sabine Kuegler's autobiographical novel Dschungelkind, in which an important section of her life, with the same name called film. We actualized this comparison between the literature and cinema arts as intermediality in the context of interculturalism. This article, which compares Sabine Kuegler's novel Dschungelkind, which is one of the most important representatives of postmodern German literature, and her adaptation to the cinema, covers the arts of literature and cinema, and explores the connections between these two branches of art. Those, who read the book Dschungelkind, look adventure-oriented, and those, who watch the film Dschungelkind, think empatic. We compared these two works under the notion of interculturalism. Our article carries the traces of intercultural exchangings and intercultural conflicts. Sabine, who is the main figure of the novel and film, has been living in a tribe in West Papua, the province of Indonisia for years, with her family, since the age of 7. The main figure feels like a part of this tribe in time. She feels unfamiliar to the west society and culture in which she lived until the age of seven. The main problematic of the novel, in which the author reflects her own life experiences, is the phenomenon of the conflict between primitive and modern culture. This phenomenon gets ahead in visual and auditory system of cinema as in novel. We will analyze the notion of culture and interculturalism and the cultural artworks between the disciplines as psychology, education, health, tourism, politics and history. The topics in film adaptations, the elements that highlight the intercultural differences of the book, the effects of film adapted from the world literature to the 7th art, the important book-film adaptation in the German cinema and the changings in the Sabine Kuegler's life. All these are discussed in this article. Also we discussed the effects in the human spirit of the cultural changings. In summarize, we examined the problematic of cultural differences and conflicts in this novel we selected form German literature and its adaptation to cinema. We tried to examine comparatively with the narrative techniques of literature and cinema arts. In this way, we aimed to illuminiate the notion of interculturalism, which is one of the important topics of the postmodern era in which we live.
