Abstract (EN)

This thesis analyzes how examples of metonymy (mecâz-ı mürsel) found in the Qur'an are reflected in Turkish translations (meals). It examines the extent to which the meanings and literary aspects of such figurative expressions are conveyed in translation. The primary aim of the research is to theoretically explore the concept of mecâz-ı mürsel, evaluate its reflections in Turkish translations, and, where necessary, provide a critical perspective. Within this framework, the study seeks to highlight the importance of fidelity in meaning transfer in translation works. A qualitative research method has been adopted. Initially, based on classical rhetoric sources, the distinction between literal and figurative language, the nature of figurative expressions, the definition of mecâz-ı mürsel, its types, and areas of use are examined in detail. Subsequently, examples of mecâz-ı mürsel in the Qur'an are identified and analyzed comparatively through various Turkish translations representing different periods and interpretative approaches. The historical diversity of the selected translations and their belonging to different schools of thought have broadened the scope of the study, allowing for the joint evaluation of classical, modern, and collective works. In the analysis, a balance between verbal fidelity and semantic integrity has been maintained.
