The story of prophet Salih in the quran and the reasons for the destruction of the thamud people

Stories have an important place among the methods of presenting ing the divine message of the Holy Quran. Through stories, exemplary events from the past are presented to the addressee in an impressive style. Therefore, examining the stories of the Prophet in the light of the verses is important in terms of drawing the necessary lessons from past experiences. For this reason, we chose the story of Prophet Salih and the reasons for the destruction of the people of Thamud in the Quran as the subject. Our thesis consists of three parts. In the first part, we examined the story and concepts related to the story in order to clarify the subject. We discussed basic issues such as the repetition of stories, their historical reality and purposes. In the second part, we gave brief information about the interpretation in the order of revelation and about Hazrat Salih and the people of Thamud. Then, we explained the verses related to our subject in the 11 surahs in which the story of Prophet Salih, which is our main subject, is told, according to chronological commentary. At the end of the second part, we saw that the focus was generally on Hazrat Salih's struggle for monotheism and the process that led to the destruction of the people of Thamud. In the third chapter, we first briefly discussed the tribes of Noah, Hud, Lut and Shuayb, together with the reasons for their destruction, in order to compare the place of the Thamud tribe among the destroyed tribes. Then we explained some of the reasons for the destruction of the people of Thamud. As a result, the story of the Prophet, which we examined with the chronological commentary method, is, on the one hand, Hz. While shedding light on the social life in the time of the Prophet, it also enabled us to look at the fate of past societies as an example. Keywords: Destruction, Quran, Salih, Story, Thamud
