Abstract (EN)

Quran, which is accepted as the last cycle communication between Allah and mankind, is also an addressing of Him to the mankind. Although the delivering purpose of the Quran is to address the mankind in general, we also see different forms of addressing in its content. The forms of addressing, which hold an important place in terms of understanding and interpreting the Quran, are included in many method books and categorized in this manner. But out of all forms of addressing, we see that the ones beginning with the "Ya" (O!) vocative are important. There are many forms of addressing in Quran beginning with this vocative. Ya eyyühennas (O mankind) is one of them. In this study, we focused on addressing of "ya eyyühennas (O mankind)", which takes place in twenty-one verses in Quran, and the relation between the addressing and the addressee. We considered the content of the verse, the relation between the verses coming before and after, the reasons of deliverance, if available, and the concepts within the verses while doing so. In this thesis that has two main sections, we focused on the concept of addressing, "O" vocative and forms of addressing in Quran in the first section as an introduction to the second one. In the second section, we analyzed verses that include vocative of "ya eyyühennas (O mankind)". We tried to base this analysis to the recitation books which we included in the references section. We chose recitation books that differ from each other in terms of content and period. The findings of our analysis point out that there are differences in terms of generality and particularity in the verses which include this form of addressing, and we found out that commentators did not have a consensus on each verse. Keywords: Addressing, addressee, ya eyyühennas (O mankind), generality, particularity, tafsir
