Exegesis of verses about the locking of hearts, in the Qur'an

The heart is not just an organ that pumps blood. It is the center of human understanding, comprehension and perception. The heart is the place of faith and denial. In fact, all Islamic scholars have stated that the most important condition of faith is the approval of the heart. Just as faith takes place in the heart, just as confessing with the tongue is considered hypocrisy; denial also takes place in the heart. So both are acts of the heart. In the Qur'an, the verses containing the concept of heart contain negative and positive qualities. These verses are about the spiritual dimension of the human being, not the material aspect. The heart, which is mindful, thinking, reaching guidance, carrying compassion and love, and having positive traits such as the landing place of revelation; it has a structure that includes negative qualities such as blinding, hardening, locking, deviating, not seeing, not thinking, grudge, anger, hatred and discord. For this reason, the biggest disaster of the heart, which has the movement of seeing or not seeing the truth and reality, is its sealing. When we examine the Qur'an, we see that the sealing of the heart is mentioned in fifteen verses. In the Qur'an, the sealing of the heart is expressed with the concept pair hatm and tab'. In the first part of our study, this pair of concepts and in addition to these, the concept of the heart has been tried to be discussed in detail. Four verses under the title of "The Interpretation of Verses Containing the Verb 'Ḫateme' (خَتَمَ)" and eleven verses under the name of "The Interpretation of Verses Containing the Verb 'Ṭabe'a' (طَبَعَ)" are discussed. In the conclusion part, it has been tried to summarize the basic ideas and opinions that we have reached in the study.
