Abstract (EN)

The present study aims to analyse the contextual structure underlying the concept of gratitude in the Quran. The present study is an examination of verses related to gratitude, with a particular focus on the individual and social dimensions of gratitude in the Quran. The study explores the theological and moral implications of these verses, offering insights into the broader context of values education and moral guidance. In this context, the study employs content analysis to examine the attitudes, behaviours, and discourses associated with gratitude throughout the lives of prophets such as Noah, Abraham, Moses, Solomon, and Muhammad. Furthermore, the semantic field, root meaning, and conceptual variations of gratitude in the Quran are evaluated within the framework of linguistic approaches. The study incorporates both classical exegetical literature and modern interpretations, examining the relationship between the concept of gratitude and other fundamental Quranic concepts such as faith, patience, trust in God, and submission. The findings reveal that the concept of gratitude in the Quran is not merely an expression of thanks, but rather a manifestation of a state of consciousness, a sense of servitude, and a sense of responsibility. Moreover, within the Quranic context, gratitude is exhibited not only in response to blessings but also as a disposition adopted in the face of adversity and hardship. In this respect, the concept of gratitude in the verses provides an educational and guiding space where gratitude is primarily embodied. The present study aims to make a theoretical contribution to a more in-depth understanding of the place and function of gratitude in the Quran. Moreover, to enhance the scientific depth and comprehensiveness of the study, the verses on the concept of gratitude in the Quran, along with the hadiths that support and explain this concept, are examined together. The verses are analysed in context, thereby revealing the range of meaning and the diversity of uses of the theme of gratitude in divine address. Furthermore, the shaping of the concept of gratitude in the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is evaluated in light of the hadiths. The data obtained facilitate a comprehensive evaluation of the concept of gratitude in Islamic thought, its function, and its implications for individual and social life. In this respect, the study aims to examine the subject in depth, using both a Quran-centred content analysis and hadith-based support.
