Abstract (EN)

This study researches non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working on the Syrians under temporary protection. The main aim of the study is to question NGOs dealing with many different socio-economic problems and their activities in the context of their role in transforming political economic order. To provide empirical data for the study, interviews were conducted with the representatives of NGOs carrying out activities on the Syrians under temporary protection in Türkiye, employing the qualitative research method. In this context, interviews were conducted with representatives of 15 different NGOs 13 of which were from associations and 2 from foundations. 10 of them undertake activities at national level, and 5 of them operate at both national and international level. The findings were gathered from these interviews. The findings show that NGOs are dependent on their financial sources and have to operate within the boundaries drawn by funders and the state. The study argues that, given the current structure of NGOs, they cannot prevent the emergence of problems or produce permanent solutions due to their dependency, but can only alleviate them temporarily.
