The role of international organizations in fighting from a global public goods perspective

Poverty is when people do not have enough income or consumption to meet their needs. Poverty is caused by many factors such as inequalities in income distribution, unemployment, demographic reasons, inflation, economic crises and natural disasters. With the globalization process that accelerated in the 1990s, poverty began to be seen as a problem at the international level. Nation states are inadequate in the fight against global poverty. International organizations and organizations that fight against poverty at the global level are gaining importance in order to solve this problem. These organizations and institutions are mainly organizations such as the World Bank, IMF, UNDP, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, ILO and WTO. Global public goods are indivisible goods and services whose negative and positive externalities spread to all societies, countries and generations, and where there is no competition and exclusion in consumption. With the globalization process, global public goods such as information, economic stability, peace and security, health and governance have begun to gain importance. Global public goods contribute to the solution of the poverty problem with the positive externalities they emit. Reducing poverty at the global level contributes to the more effective provision of global public goods. While international organizations produce services that emit positive externalities at the global level, these services also positively affect efforts to combat poverty. The World Bank and the IMF provide financial support to countries to create strong economies and contribute to the development of these countries. Contributes to its sustainability. UNDP, on the other hand, works in many areas such as reducing global poverty, preventing epidemics, ensuring that everyone receives education at least at primary level, and combating climate changes. ILO, on the other hand, struggles to employ people and eliminate the unemployment problem. It also cooperates with other organizations in this fight. WTO wants all countries to participate in international trade and strengthen their economies. The OIC provides vocational training to member countries living in poverty and supports sustainable development goals. The aim of the study is global public goods; to emphasize the importance of peace and security, financial stability, information, health, governance and the environment in reducing global poverty. International organizations; The work of the World Bank, IMF, WTO, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, UNDP and ILO in combating poverty as a global public good is discussed.
