Abstract (EN)
This study examines the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the context of multi-polarity debates in the global system in the post-Cold War period. Following the collapse of the Eastern Bloc and the USSR in the Cold War, the new world order and the global system forms, in which the US remains the only super power, will be described and the multi-polarity system will be discussed. In this theoretical framework, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will be taken as an exemplary institution. Within the scope of this study, it was tried to evaluate the adaptation of Russia and China to the changing world system conditions, the content of their bilateral relations in the establishment of the SCO and the criteria of membership to this organization. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a union of strong states with rich natural resources in the Central Asian region. In this respect, the organization represents an important geopolitical and strategic entity. Finally, the study will evaluate the possibility for Turkey to become a full member of the SCO.
