The effect of the globalization phenomenon on the sovereignty role of the nation state

Globalization refers to the process of increasing interaction, connections and integration in economic, political, social and cultural fields throughout the world. This process is an important factor that affects and transforms the traditional sovereignty roles of nation states. Firstly, when the effects of globalization on the nation state are examined, it is seen that nation states are becoming increasingly interconnected in the economic field through capital flows, trade agreements and multinational companies. This situation limits the ability of nation states to determine and implement their economic policies. When nation states take part in the global economic system, it becomes necessary for their national economic decisions to be in accordance with the expectations of global markets. In the political sphere, nation states are forced to renounce their sovereignty on many issues through international organizations and agreements. Especially in matters such as international human rights standards, environmental protection policies and security issues, nation-states are forced to comply with international norms and limit their ability to make local decisions. In the cultural field, globalization, along with the developments in communication technologies and the increase in cultural exchange, complicates the efforts of nation-states to protect their cultural identities. Global trends in areas such as popular culture, fashion, music and the film industry compete with national cultural values. This situation complicates the activities of nation states in cultural policy-making and conversation. As a result, in today's world, the sovereign roles of nation states are gradually changing and limiting. On the other hand, there are supporters of notion that in the international system, the power and efficiency of nation state will continue in the globalization process. Nation-states are trying to balance their sovereignty by having to interact more with global actors. This process requires nation states to review their current structures and policies, making international cooperation and interaction even more important in the future. In this study, it has attained the basic arguments that the whether nation state's sovereignty realm has been limited or not and whether nation state is gaining power or not in the globalization period.
