Curcumin as the active compound of turmeric has antioxidative, antiinflamatory, antimicrobial and anticancer properties among others. It s disadvantageous properties like low solubility, poor bioavailabilty and rapid degradation can be solved by a smart combination of using a natural enhancer like a piperine and preparing nanoparticles by a proper method like electrospray. Curcumin and Piperine loaded zein nanoparticles having mean particle size of approximately 300 nm is a unique blend of curcumin (89%) and piperine (87%) encapsulated with electrospray. There is no particular scientific evidence for the toxicology regarding the curcumin and piperine nanoparticles, so the present work reports the results of the study investigating the acute (single dose) systemic toxicity of the curcumin and piperine loaded zein nanoparticles in BALB-C male mice. As the use of nanoparticles in medicine is expected to increase in the future, having the knowledge of how to effect curcumin and piperine nanoparticles to the system is a necessity. In acute systemic toxicity, the dosage was 25mg/kg (ip) body weight for five male mice. No evidence of acute toxicity was detected during the study. Thus, data analysis of mortality, body weight gain, feed consumption, clinical observations, organ weights did not show significant differences between mice. It is concluded that curcumin and piperine zein loaded nanoparticles systemic (ip) administered to mice had no drug-related toxicity was detected in acute (25 mg/kg ) systemic toxicity study. Also it should be studied with the control group to see hematology and histopathological findings at the same dose. Key words: Curcumin, Piperine, Nanoparticles, Acute Systemic Toxicity
