Enterprise resource planning (ERP) system selection with analytic hierarchy process - application in automotive sector

This study?s aim is chosing the best out of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. In the bussines life in which the competition and rapidity are dominant, ERP which is so important for the companies is described, with the literature research; its development to the date is examined. After describing the modules of the ERP, practice process is discussed, and detailed information about ERP chosing stages with the election criterias are given. Then, future of ERP which is more discussed about its importance for the companies is mentioned, and its state in Turkey and in the world is examined.At the second stage of the study, decision making technique of the Analitic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is subjected. Analitic Hierarchy Process is examined with its main lines; its general definition and literature study about it are done. Application stages of AHP as constituting of hierarchical structure, establishing matrices of paired comparisons of the criterias, sub-criterias, and alternatives and then discussion of the results are explained. After decision making relevant of AHP and group decisions are discussed, application areas are given.At the application stage, the two firms which are performing in automotive sector are examined. General information about the companies is given. At the ERP chosing stage, decision making management of the firms and ERP experts are visited and criterias, sub-criterias of the hierarchy and its alternatives are evaluated.Paired comparisons are formed with the data which is found, and then these matrices subjected to one of the AHP software, Expert Choice. In the software, after the evaluating with the AHP technique, the best ERP systems for the each firm are established. The results found for the firms are compared.
