Abstract (EN)
This study aims to compare and examine the differences in the perspectives of young and old generations on social values. Social values are an important element that shapes the behavior of individuals and the general structure of society. However, changes such as changing lifestyles, modernization and the development of technology also change the course of value judgments as they are transferred from generation to generation. This research aims to make a unique contribution to understanding the differences between the older generation and the younger generation in the context of social values. This study, conducted in accordance with the qualitative research method, consists of two main parts: theoretical and applied. The theoretical part constitutes the conceptual framework of this study. Here, social values, generations and their subheadings are discussed. The titles of family, religion, education, culture, politics and economy are undoubtedly accepted as the values of a society. For this reason, social values are examined within the conceptual framework of the study. In the application part, which constitutes the second part of the study, the interview technique, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. In order to better understand the differences between generations, the research consists of a total of 30 participants, 15 older individuals over the age of 65 and 15 younger individuals between the ages of 15-25. A semi structured interview form was used as a data collection tool. During the interviews, probing questions were added to the participants for clarity of findings, without deviating from the topic and question. As a result of the interviews conducted with old and young individuals in this study, it was seen that social values are not as important for the younger generation as they are for the older generation. While the older generation emphasizes that changing social values is bad, it has been found that for the younger generation, change is clearly normal and should happen
