Abstract (EN)

In this study, the evaluation of tuffs taken from Çayca/Kütahya as a mineral additive in cement was investigated. For this purpose, chemical and mineralogical properties of tuffs were determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis. As a result of this analysis, the SiO2+Al2O3+Fe2O3 total content of the material is 85.34%. After grinding, it has been observed that the tuffs have a specific surface area over the value of 4000 cm2/g. The setting times of the cement pastes with additives prepared by substituting 25% of the ground tuffs with different finenesses were determined. Finally, the physical and mechanical properties of the mortars prepared by substituting the standard cement mortar prepared in accordance with the TS EN 196-1 standard and the tuff milled in different finenesses instead of 25% cement were determined. Samples of 2, 7, 28 and 56 days were prepared. Among these samples, the ultrasound velocity of the 56-day-old T60+SA+OK sample was 4338 m/sec, the compressive strength was 41.43 MPa and the bending strength was 8.85 MPa. It has been determined that the strength of the samples is high, so they can be used in the production of cement with additives. Keywords: Cement, Pozzolan, Tuff.
