The evaluation of the views of the craftsmen on the issue of universality of Kütahya tile making

Handcrafts have been maintaining their popularity for many years in both Turkey and the world and each day they have been complimented more and more. This research handles the subject of tile making which has become the symbol of the Kütahya city of a hundred years and an indispensable branch of handcrafts. The aim of this research is analyzing the effects of the issue of universality of Kütahya tile-making as a handcraft and evaluating the subject according to artists' opinions. This research is a screening model and interview technique of qualitative research models is used. In this research; written or oral interviews were conducted by recording with people experts in their fields and living in Kutahya, or/and famous artist artists with six semi-structured questions directed about the subject, findings were obtained, evaluated, interpreted and suggestions were presented according to the result of the research. Interviews scheduled with twenty-one people at the start of the study completed with interviews of only ten people as eleven people rejected with reasons such as health problems, work, travel, reluctance in interviewing and so on in the appointment making process. At the result of the research; current situation according to people interviewed with on the issue of universality of Kutahya tile making as a handcraft, the problems faced with, cultural-economic-touristic contributions and progresses in transferring to nex generations in the way of communication and in accordance with this the acquisitions were put forward.
